Woman Discovers 2000 Year Old Green Blob. That Was Just the Beginning. You Won’t Believe Else She Found.
The green blob, known as llareta, is a flowering plant found in the Andes mountains. It is famous for its death-defying lifespan. What’s even more mind blowing is that this plant is just one of many plants whose lifespans span over millennia. Over the past 10 years, artist Rachel Sussman traveled the globe to create a photographic record of the world’s oldest living plants. The plants she discovered range from a youthful 2000 years to an immortal 80,000 years old.
In this collection, we show you some of the most amazing species she found.
Aren’t these amazing? Some of these plants were born when the dinosaurs were still around!
