A Brain On Drugs – Amazing Self Portraits Of An Artist As He Experiments With Everything From Abilify To Marijuana . . . And Then Some!
On March 30th, 1995 artist Bryan Saunders, set out to complete at least one self-portrait for every day of his life. In the process, Bryan has completed almost 9,000 self-portraits documenting himself along life’s path. These self portraits explore everything from periods of love and pain to times of traveling in nature and working an office job. As Bryan states: “like fingerprints, snowflakes, and DNA they are all different, no two are the same.”
However, in 2001, Bryan decided to complete a series of self-portraits while experimenting of different drugs / medications. The resulting self-portraits portray a compelling peek into one man’s view of himself and his world while under the influence.
Bryan writes on his site that “within weeks I became lethargic and suffered mild brain damage” from the drug experiences. Nonetheless, Bryan is still conducting this experiment of his . . . just over greater lapses of time going forward.
