Speed Dating Tuna Style = A “Fish Tornado” That Will Blow Your Mind
For years, underwater photographer and marine conservationist Octavio Aburto traveled to Cabo Pulmo National Park off Mexico’s Coast with one goal: photographing the unique spectacle known as a “fish tornado.”
According to Mr. Aburto, “In the afternoon, these fish congregate to form a large spawning aggregation around the reefs of the National Park”. Although an extremely rare phenomenon, these large congregations of fish happen as a natural part of the reproduction courtship and amazingly really do look like an underground tornado of fish.
